As per the email issued to all parents on Friday, please note the following:
In an attempt to ensure that learning takes place with as much structure as possible over the coming weeks, teachers will be using Edmodo and Microsoft Outlook as the main sources of communication with students. Ms Daly carried out checks in anticipation of school closures and all is in working order with students’ accounts. Students have been asked to ensure that they have their iPad, charger and relevant notes taken from their locker.
Work will be posted on Edmodo for class groups on the day they would normally have their subjects: as per timetable. The work will need to be completed either on that day or by the date of the following class, unless otherwise specified by their teacher. The nature of the work will vary from subject to subject and we have asked that the volume of work reflect that of what a student would be expected to cover in a normal week. Some teachers may request students to send answers/homework via email or Edmodo and clear instructions for students will be given in terms of dates, deadlines, learning etc. We expect students to maintain the high standard and quality of work that they are accustomed to and that these closures are not regarded as a holiday.
If you son/daughter is having any difficulties with their Edmodo or email account, Ms Daly has kindly offered to be of assistance remotely. She can be contacted on [email protected]
In terms of Junior Cycle CBA’s, Assessment Tasks, Practical’s etc. we have not yet received confirmation from the Department on how these will be managed. For now, all we can do is aim to continue the learning that is taking place in the best way we can. We encourage students to continue their normal revision plans at home and to take this as an opportunity to get planned or additional work completed. As soon as any information is received we will be in contact.
N.B. It is important to note that whilst the teachers will provide work/notes/guidance and feedback, the students must take responsibility for completing the work and for applying themselves. We ask that you, the parent/guardian, assist us in ensuring that the work is being received and completed. This is of particular importance for 3rd Year students, who are in preparation for their Junior Cycle examinations.
We will revert with any updates or guidelines should they be provided. This is a very uncertain time and it is important that we create a structure where possible.
Most important of all is that we don’t lose sight of the reason for the closure, so please stay safe over the coming weeks and we hope that these series of events pass without any serious consequences for you and your loved ones.
Take care,
Carrigtwohill Community College
