1st year Music classes enjoyed a fabulous morning with Patrick Naughton from African Drumming Ireland last Tuesday, October 10th.
Students were encouraged to foster a love of West African Drumming, Rhythm, and Culture, thus introducing students to new musical and life experiences.
Students explored different Rhythms, Songs and Movement coming from Africa and other World cultures. The workshop were hands-on, noncompetitive and taught cooperation, where listening and concentration skills play a big role. These skills are in turn transferrable to the classroom.
Students learned simple, achievable rhythms on the African Drum- this was a big hit amongst all students!
A memorable, enjoyable group experience through music was had by all!!
