Well done to our 2nd Year CSPE students who organised a ‘No-Power Day’ on Friday. As a symbol of involvement for ‘Earth Hour’ which took place on Saturday 30th March, our students aimed to reduce the use of power as much as possible. Some of the measures that were put in place for the day:
❌ All lights turned off in the classrooms and corridors
❌ No use of overhead projectors or iPads in classrooms, where possible.
❌ No use of microwaves, kettles and toasters for staff and students
❌ No use of electric sockets
Students were asked to bring a lunch that did not require the use of the above appliances and reminders were placed over light switches to help remind teachers of our goal. Although it was not possible to eliminate the use of power completely, it’s use was drastically reduced. Many students and teachers commented on the calming effect of using natural light instead of electric lighting. A small action, but a big lesson! Well done to everyone. ♻️🌎🌞😃👏🏼
